So, this past weekend, I bought a “fancy” photocell timer for our outside Christmas lights so they go on automatically at dusk. We kept forgetting to turn them on, and since Kenny put a full Saturday afternoon’s worth of effort into getting them up, I felt bad that we weren’t stunning the neighborhood with his lighting genius on a nightly basis (Hahaha!). Queue the timer. (Oh, and it totally wasn’t really fancy. It was $10 at Target.)

Funny thing about Portland this time of year – it can be very gray.

And a funny thing about the $10 version of photocell technology – it seems that it cannot tell the difference between “gray” and “dusk”.

I looked out my window at 10 a.m. today, and the lights…they were aglow. They’ve since shut themselves back off. I guess the effort the sun puts forth to break through the clouds at 11:15 a.m. is much stronger than what it does at 10:00 a.m.?!
